Carpet of Life

is a non-profit social organization, who make their carpets solely from recycled clothes and fabric scraps, preventing waste materials ending up in landfill. They work alongside the Nomadic Berber women who use the traditional Boucherouite technique to weave the carpets.

This design collaboration tells the weavers story.

It explores the relationship between the weavers and the making process: the interaction and connection to the loom and each other.

The design started with Charlotte, but was transformed and woven by the Nomadic women, forming a collaborative art piece, communicating independence and confidence, opportunity and community: the core values of COL’s mission.

COL so far has provided literacy classes in isolated villages, a sustainable income to the Nomadic woman, and an opportunity to sustain the tradition and heritage of the Boucherouite art form.

ENDU is a textile design collection made for Ride with a Mission for Studio So_Sarpi in Milan and was exhibited at FuoriSalone, Milan Design Week in 2019.

Ride with a Mission is a project that raises funds to bring clean water to Tenghory's district in Senegal, including five elementary schools.

Endu translates as to spend the day in Wolof,

the most widely spoken language in Senegal.

This design illustrates the everyday interactions between the Senegalese people and water, inspired by the daily routines of collecting, cooking, washing and drinking water.

Charlotte explores the body language and movement formed in these interactions, translating them into colourful symbols and simple geometric forms.

The designs encourage the viewer to look beyond the aesthetic, and explore and question the representation of each shape.

Reconnect is a surface design for a train table.

The table is a symbol of connectivity. It is the centre of a home or community: a space for shared enjoyment, human experience and equal social exchange.

The vitality and value of the domestic table is lost as soon as we leave the comfort of our homes.

Tables within public transport interiors encourage a constant state of working or connecting with technology, an obsession for sitting alone and a life constantly ‘on the go’. There is a lack of human interaction, a lack of any connectivity with each other or the environment.

Reconnect aims to bring people together around the train table and to elevate everyday living.

The surface design encourages meaningful relationships between the environment and its users, using shape and colour to change the way we feel and behave within this space.
